Cazzolli visits with Dr. Benjamin Rix Brooks and his multidisciplinary team at the MDA/ALS Clinic, Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Cazzolli is working under the direction of Dr. Brooks.
 
Akiko Ogura, RN, MSN, PhD and Yuki Nakayama, RN, PhD, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute for Neuroscience, Research Field for Motor and Sensory System, Department of Nursing Research for Intractable Disease. Yuki and her team are working in collaboration with Pamela Cazzolli, RN of the ALS Care Project on research studies to help establish needed guidelines to improve the care for ALS.
Cazzolli trains nurses on use of the oral secretion scale at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute for Neuroscience Research Field for Motor and Sensory System, Department of Nursing Research for Intractable Disease. The nurses later used the scale with success for predicting tolerance of nasal ventilation in 20 ALS patients.

Pamela Cazzolli, RN gives a poster presentation at an international conference. She reports on her study of 118 ALS patients who began unplanned life support during emergency hospitalizations. On her left is Dr Douglas Mckim, co-author of the study. He is Director of the Rehabilitation Centre at the University of Ottawa.
 
Co-chairing the quality of life session at the International Chronic Ventilatory Support Conference in Tel Aviv
Gives lecture on how ventilator users can achieve a quality of life at the International Conference on Chronic Ventilated Patients in Tel Aviv, Israel. The program was sponsored by Reuth Medical Center, a respiratory care center in Tel Aviv.

Meeting with Dr. Hideaki Hayashi, Director General of the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute for Neuroscience to discuss survival and outcomes of ALS patients using tracheostomy ventilation. Dr. Hayashi is a world renown neurologist for his research on long term survival of ALS.

Cazzolli participates in a panel discussion on ALS care at the Intractable Disease Nursing Society in Tokyo. 400 nurses and physicians attended the several day conference.
