Services Include:

• Assess patient problems; identify/help plan best care interventions, provide nursing recommendations; educate on options for breathing and living for making best choices; help patient families cope with ongoing changes and losses and progression of symptoms; and refer patients to appropriate multidisciplinary healthcare professionals for management of problems; help prevent avoidable complications; and achieve best patient outcomes;

• Nursing consultation services are not a substitute for visits to the patients’ physicians or visits by other healthcare providers.

 

Nursing services are in accordance with the Nursing Process, defined by the American Nurses Association.

Consultation services are free.

ALS care education is based on clinical evidence and experience.

​

• Includes educating on best respiratory management; optimal use of nasal / oral breathing support for ALS, ventilators/settings/nasal/oral interfaces indicated for ALS; best suctioning methods for clearing throat; achieving and maintaining adequate ventilation and airway clearance; emergency care interventions; preventing failed use of nasal/oral ventilation, and respiratory emergencies; alleviating respiratory distress; when to initiate hospice or transition to invasive breathing support, if desired; and what care providers need to know about tracheostomy ventilation and expected outcomes. 
   

• ALSCP PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR HOME CARE/ HOSPICE AGENCIES, SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES, AREA ON AGING AGENCIES, HOSPITALS (ER’S, ICU’S), HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES, RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT COMPANIES, PARAMEDICS, AND SCHOOLS. Fees for educational programs are minimal, based on hours and geographical location.
